Literature classes are designed to expose students to a variety of literary forms including novels, short stories, and poetry. Other objectives of the literature class are to help students increase their reading fluency, improve comprehension, build vocabulary, and improve oral expression. Students read orally, participate in class discussion, and answer essay questions. Students are encouraged to think critically and analytically as they contemplate values or moral messages in the text and reconcile the relevancy of the message to their own life experience.
