Reading Tutorials
Eagle Mountain School's daily one-on-one reading tutorial is the foundation of its remedial program. The tutorial is divided into the following interrelated components: decoding, spelling, oral reading, reading comprehension, handwriting, and dictionary skills. Emphasis is placed on the development of phonetic analysis and understanding of phonetic and linguistic regularity in language. A structured, sequential program is used to develop auditory conceptualization in addition to basic reading fluency. The MTA Alphabet/Dictionary Skills program is used to develop dictionary skills.
